- What an achievement. What a night! for Slumdog Millionaire. it has won eight awards, including Best Director, Best Music and Best Picture. The whole cast and crew is up on high. Jai Hindi!
- Best Actor Sean Penn for his role in Milk.
- Best actress goes to Kate Winslet for The Reader! She breaks the 13 year curse and is justly rewarded for her fantastic work
- Best Director goes to Danny Boyle for his Slumdog millionaire. He jumps for joy (literally), and with good reason.
- Best Foreign Film is Departures, a Japanese film.
- Jai Ho has won the Oscar for Best Song! Two Oscars for India’s finest modern musician! What a night to remember. a classy, gracious acceptance speech from Mr Rahman. Well deserved. You’ve made all of India proud.
- Mr Rahman won the oscar for best Original Score
- Best Film Editing is goes to Chris Dickens
- The Best Sound Mixing award goes to Slumdog Millionaire’s Resul Pookutty.
- Best Sound Editing goes to The Dark Knight
- The Academy Award for best Visual Effects is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
- The best supporting actress is Penelope Cruz for Vicky Cristina Barcelona!
- The Best Original Screenplay goes to Dustin Lance Black for Milk!
- Best Adapted Screenplay goes to Simon Beaufoy for his Slumdog Millionaire.
- Wall-E won the Best Animated Film.
- The Best Animated Short Film goes to La Maison en Petit Cubes.
- The Best Art Direction goes to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
- Best Costume Design goes to The Duchess (Michael O’Connor).
- Best Make-Up goes to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button!
- Best Cinematography goes to Slumdog Millionaire- Anthony Dod Mantle
- Best Live Action Short Film goes to Spielzeugland (Toyland)
- The Best Supporting Actor goes to Heath Ledger
- The Best Documentary goes to The Betrayal.
- Best Documentary (Short) goes to Smile Pinki, a film based in Benares
