This function was organised by the cine stars to convey their heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaingar Mr.M Karunanidhi for granting land for housing proposal for film industry workers. Super Star Rajini said that the CM is offering land and housing facilities for those who cannot afford it. He appealed to all the film personalities not to apply for a house in the allotted land if they can afford it elsewhere.
Ajith made a frank appeal to the CM that film fraternity should not be arm twisted to attend such political and social events. He said that They want us to attend such events and at the same time are against us joining politics. Actor Ajith simply stunned the crowds with his speech. Taking everyone by surprise, after thanking the CM for his support of his fraternity. Rajinikanth stood up and gave Ajith a standing ovation, which resulted in the entire stadium applauding in uproar. Cm agreed that cine folk should not be forced to make statements or participate in events related to social causes.
